Easy Weight Loss Tips

26 Weight Loss Tips Based on Science

26 Weight Loss Tips Based on Science

Over the years, however, scientists have found a number of strategies that seem to be effective.
Here are 26 weight loss tips that are actually evidence-based.
1. Drink Water, Especially Before Meals
Drinking water can boost metabolism by 24-30% over a period of 1-1.5 hours, helping you burn off a few more calories (1, 2).
One study showed that drinking a half liter (17 oz) of water about a half an hour before meals helped dieters eat fewer calories and lose 44% more weight (3).
2. Eat Eggs for Breakfast
Eating whole eggs can have all sorts of benefits, including helping you lose weight.
Studies show that replacing a grain-based breakfast with eggs can help you eat fewer calories for the next 36 hours, and lose more weight and more body fat (4, 5).
If you can’t eat eggs for some reason, then that’s fine. Any source of quality protein for breakfast should do the trick.
3. Drink Coffee (Preferably Black)
Coffee has been unfairly demonized. Quality coffee is loaded with antioxidants, and can have numerous health benefits.
Studies show that the caffeine in coffee can boost metabolism by 3-11%, and increase fat burning by up to 10-29% (6, 7, 8).
Make sure you don’t add a bunch of sugar or other high-calorie ingredients to it. That will completely negate any benefit you get from the coffee.
4. Drink Green Tea
Like coffee, green tea also has many benefits — one of them being weight loss.
Green tea contains small amounts of caffeine, but it is also loaded with powerful antioxidants called catechins, which are also believed to work synergistically with the caffeine to enhance fat burning (9, 10).
Although the evidence is mixed, there are many studies showing that green tea (either as a beverage or a green tea extract supplement) can help you lose weight (11, 12).
5. Cook With Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is very healthy. It is high in special fats called medium chain triglycerides, which are metabolized differently than other fats.
These fats have been shown to boost metabolism by 120 calories per day, and also reduce your appetite so that you eat up to 256 fewer calories per day (13, 14).
Keep in mind that this is not about adding coconut oil on top of what you’re already eating, it is about replacing some of your current cooking fats with coconut oil.
6. Take a Glucomannan Supplement
A fiber called glucomannan has been shown to cause weight loss in several studies.
This is a type of fiber that absorbs water and “sits” in your gut for a while, making you feel more full and helping you eat fewer calories (15).
Studies have shown that people who supplement with glucomannan lose a bit more weight than those who don’t (16).
7. Cut Back on Added Sugar
Added sugar is the single worst ingredient in the modern diet, and most people are eating way too much of it.
Studies show that sugar (and high fructose corn syrup) consumption is strongly associated with the risk of obesity, as well as diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart disease and others (17, 18, 19).
If you want to lose weight, you should be cutting back on added sugars. Just make sure to read labels, because even so-called health foods can be loaded with sugar.
8. Eat Less Refined Carbs
Refined carbohydrates are usually sugar, or grains that have been stripped of their fibrous, nutritious parts (i.e. white bread and pasta).
Studies show that refined carbs can spike blood sugar rapidly, leading to hunger, cravings and increased food intake a few hours later. Eating refined carbs is strongly linked to obesity (20, 21, 22) .
If you’re going to eat carbs, make sure to eat them with their natural fiber.
9. Go On a Low Carb Diet
If you want to get all the benefits of carb restriction, then consider taking this all the way and going on a low carb diet.
Numerous studies show that such a diet (or “way of eating”) can help you lose 2-3 times as much weight as a standard low-fat diet, while improving your health at the same time (23, 24, 25).
10. Use Smaller Plates
Using smaller plates has been shown to help people automatically eat fewer calories in some studies. Weird trick, but it seems to work (26).
11. Exercise Portion Control or Count Calories
Portion control (eating less) or counting calories can be very useful, for obvious reasons (27).
There are also studies showing that keeping a food diary and writing down what you eat, or taking pictures of all your meals, can help you lose weight (28, 29).
Anything that increases your awareness of what you are eating is likely to be useful.
12. Keep Healthy Food Around in Case You Get Hungry
Keeping healthy food close by can help prevent you from eating something unhealthy if you become excessively hungry.
A few snacks that are easily portable and simple to prepare include whole fruits, a handful of nuts, baby carrots, yogurt and a hardboiled egg (or two).
13. Brush Your Teeth After Dinner
Although I’m not aware of any studies on this, many people recommend brushing your teeth and/or flossing right after dinner. Then you won’t be as tempted to have a late-night snack.
14. Eat Spicy Foods
Spicy foods like Cayenne pepper contain Capsaicin, a compound that can boost metabolism and reduce your appetite slightly (30, 31).
15. Do Aerobic Exercise
Doing aerobic exercise (cardio) is an excellent way to burn calories and improve your physical and mental health.
It appears to be particularly effective to lose belly fat, the unhealthy fat that tends to build up around your organs and cause metabolic disease (32, 33).
16. Lift Weights
One of the worst side effects of dieting, is that it tends to cause muscle loss and metabolic slowdown, often referred to as starvation mode (34, 35).
The best way to prevent this from happening is to do some sort of resistance exercise, like lifting weights. Studies show that weight lifting can help keep your metabolism high, and prevent you from losing precious muscle mass (36, 37).
Of course, it’s not just important to lose fat. You also want to make sure that what is beneath looks good. Doing some sort of resistance exercise is critical for that.
17. Eat More Fiber
Fiber is often recommended for the purpose of weight loss. Although the evidence is mixed, some studies show that fiber (especially viscous fiber) can increase satiety and help you control your weight over the long term (38, 39).
18. Eat More Vegetables and Fruits
Vegetables and fruits have several properties that make them effective for weight loss.
They contain few calories, but a lot of fiber. They are also rich in water, which gives them a low energy density. They also take a while to chew, and are very filling.
Studies show that people who eat vegetables and fruits tend to weigh less (40). These foods are also super healthy and nutritious, so eating them is important for all sorts of reasons.
19. Chew Slowly
It can take a while for the brain to “register” that you’ve had enough to eat. Some studies show that chewing more slowly can help you eat fewer calories and increase the production of hormones linked to weight loss (41, 42).
20. Get Good Sleep
Sleep is highly underrated, but it may be just as important as eating healthy and exercising.
Studies show that poor sleep is one of the strongest risk factors for obesity, being linked to an 89% increased risk of obesity in children, and 55% in adults (43).
21. Beat Your Food Addiction
A recent 2014 study of 196,211 individuals found that 19.9% of people fulfil the criteria for food addiction (44).
If you suffer from overpowering cravings and can’t seem to get your eating under control no matter how hard you try, then you may be a food addict.
In this case, get help. Trying to lose weight without dealing with this problem first is next to impossible.
22. Eat More Protein
Protein is the single most important nutrient when it comes to losing weight.
Eating a high protein diet has been shown to boost metabolism by 80 to 100 calories per day, while helping you feel so satiated that you eat up to 441 fewer calories per day (45, 46, 47).
One study also showed that protein at 25% of calories reduced obsessive thoughts about food by 60%, while cutting the desire for late night snacking in half (48).
This is the single most important tip in the article.
Simply adding protein to your diet (without restricting anything) is one of the easiest, most effective and most delicious ways to lose weight.
23. Supplement with Whey Protein
If you struggle to get enough protein in your diet, taking a supplement can help.
One study showed that replacing part of your calories with whey protein can cause weight loss of about 8 pounds, while increasing lean muscle mass (49).
24. Don’t Drink Calories
Sugar is bad, but sugar in liquid form is even worse (50). Studies show that liquid sugar calories may be the single most fattening aspect of the modern diet.
For example, one study showed that sugar-sweetened beverages are linked to a 60% increased risk of obesity in children, for each daily serving (51).
Keep in mind that this applies to fruit juice as well, which contains a similar amount of sugar as a soft drink like coke (52). Eat whole fruit, but use fruit juice with caution (or avoid it altogether).
25. Eat Whole, Single-Ingredient Foods
If you want to be a leaner, healthier person, then one of the best things you can do for yourself is to eat whole, single ingredient foods.
These foods are naturally filling, and it’s very difficult to gain weight if the majority of your diet is based around them.
Keep in mind that real food doesn’t need a long list of ingredients, because real food IS the ingredient.
26. Don’t “Diet,” Eat Healthy Instead
One of the biggest problems with “diets,” is that they almost never work in the long term.
If anything, people who “diet” tend to gain more weight over time, and studies show that dieting is a consistent predictor of future weight gain (53).
Instead of going on a diet, make it your goal to become a healthier, happier and fitter person. Focus on nourishing your body, instead of depriving it.
Weight loss should follow as a natural side effect.

Tips to Concentrate on Studies By - Desai Pruthvi S

7 Tips to Concentrate on Studies

Desai  Pruthvi S
How-to-concentrate-on-studies
Youth is a time full of energy. You have so many  things around you – Friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, goals, games and yes, some forbidden things as well.
Youth is a crucial time to concentrate on studies, staying focused and build your career. Now that seems like a problem to many young people as they find it difficult to concentrate. They start something, do it for 2, 3 or maybe 5 days and then get distracted.
They get fascinated by newer things easily, then leave the task at hand and start exploring something else.  This cycle keeps repeating again and again. Nothing gets completed.  Life becomes a mess.
If you want to excel in your studies, you need to stay focused.
Here’s a story about the power of focus.
There once was a man who wished to had water. He got out, chose a spot at random and started digging. After 15 minutes, he got bored “Oh! There’s no sign of water yet, I think this is not the right spot. Let’s go and find another one.”
He left that spot and started digging at another place, there too, he got bored pretty soon. Once again, he was in search of the ‘right’ spot. He kept on doing that till evening and finally ended up with no water in sight. Frustrated and discouraged, he went back home and told his wife everything. The wife thought for a moment, smiled, but didn’t say anything.
The next day, early in the morning, the wife went out, examined several spots carefully and chose one which she thought was ‘right’. She started digging-15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour…the clock was ticking and she was digging the spot with all her might. The man was curious.
The sun, birds and the trees around were surprised at her determination. By the sunset she had water. She was happy and her husband was delightfully surprised. “How did you do that” the man asked?
“Focus!” the wife replied.
Getting distracted easily and not staying focused can cost you quite a good things in life. Develop your focus and see yourself tasting success.
Here are 7 tips to help you out.

#1
Being ‘Jack of All Trades and Master of None’ will do you no good.
The human mind has a tendency to accomplish EVERYTHING. You want to become a cricketer, an astronaut, a model, a singer, an engineer, a movie star, and what not? Well, the good news is, it’s possible to achieve all of your dreams.
Yes, it’s possible – only in your fantasies.
The reality is, you can specialize in certain area(s) only. It’ll be better if you realize that you were not born to become an all rounder. In fact, there’s no need to become one.
When I stated training for voice acting, I tried quite hard to master as many as 4 languages-Hindi, English, Urdu and Sanskrit. I was trying really hard but wasn’t getting anywhere. And then one day, I realized that it was a total waste of my time. Then I started concentrating on the languages that were really important for me get successful in voice overs, and that strategy helped me a lot.
So, do you realize now that there’s no point in trying to become an all rounder?
There’s no need to pursue a lot of things You have a special gift, a special talent to share with the world. Stay focused and become an expert in your field.

#2
Set Your Priorities
Life is short. You never know how much time have been assigned to you. You need to find out what really matters to you. If you are clear about what is it that you want from life, the journey becomes a lot easier and makes much more sense. Not being clear about what you want will just make you drift here and there, and believe me, that is a PATHETIC situation. (Because I have been in such a position myself for quite some time.)
Here’s a simple exercise to help you make your priorities clearer. Take a pen and paper. Sit where you’ll not be disturbed for 15-20 minutes. Think of all the things you want to do in life and start noting them down on the paper. Keep writing. List every single thing on paper.
When you are done, take a good look at the list, close your eyes and ask yourself-out of all these things, what matters to me the MOST?
Keep your eyes closed for some time. Now look at the list again. Put a tick mark on the things you feel matters to you and put a cross on the rest, no matter how fancy or good they appear.
Start noting down all the things you put a tick mark on, on a fresh paper. These are the most important things for you. These are your priorities. Stay focused on these ONLY.

#3
Choose Your Friends Wisely
My definition of ‘friend’ is quite simple-A friend gets happy when he sees you happy and gets sad when he sees you in a sad mood.
Have you ever thought about your friends? Are they really friends or enemies in disguise? Now, before you think I am crazy, let me tell you one thing straight in your face-there may be some people in your ‘friend circle’ who are not even worth calling friends.
You might doubt me at this moment but there are some ‘friends’ of yours, who feel good when they see you in trouble. I know it sounds harsh, but facts are facts.
People who really care about you will help you succeed, while others who want you to fail (even unconsciously, because they are jealous of your looks, talent or charisma) will leave no stone unturned to distract and demoralize you in the name of ‘good advice’. Beware of them!

#4
Say No to Time Stealer(s)
Useless and unwanted ‘whatsapp’ texts in your mobile, ‘forwarded’ messages in your email, unwanted people ringing your door bell just to have a ‘chat’- these are some examples of time stealer(s).
A time stealer could be an activity or a person that may push you off track. If you let such things overpower you, you’ll soon find yourself with no real time left to focus on what really matters to you.
Register your mobile number for DND (Do not disturb service), send an email to the people who keep sending you ‘forwarded’ emails (about the world’s craziest, sexiest, funniest and deadliest things) that you don’t want such emails in your inbox. Ask them to remove you from the list.
Also, if you don’t like someone disturbing you when you are studying, let him/her know – in the face. It’s about your studies and eventually about your career. Get serious!

#5
Opt for High Performance Gadgets and Services
Technology has made our lives much easier than before, but most of the times we under-utilize it. Technology has one deep meaning-to give you more free time to do things you really enjoy. So, it would be helpful if you could opt for high performance gadgets and services. i.e. mobiles, computers and high speed internet connection. Having a high speed internet connection may look like a waste of money, but in reality, it’s a boon. It lets you finish more in less time so you can focus more on productive activities.

#6
Practice Focus Exercise
Mind, if trained properly can help you stay focused and get maximum results from your efforts. Here is a technique to help you develop focus.
Take a white A4 size paper sheet, put a dot in the center with a black pen. Hang the sheet on a wall. Now, sit about 3 feet away from it in a relaxed position. Focus on the dot. Initially, it’ll require a lot of effort as your mind will revolt, random thoughts will appear out of nowhere, but with practice you’ll be able to focus with greater ease.
Try not to blink your eyes for as long as you can with ease and keep increasing the time little-by-little everyday. This exercise puts a lot of extra stain on your eyes and make them water. So be careful to do it gently.
This simple yet powerful exercise can greatly assist you staying focused on a single task at hand. Do this daily for at least 21 days.

#7
Maintain a To-Do List
Staying focused gets easier when you know how you are going to spend your day. I highly suggest maintaining the all time classic ‘To Do’ list. Every day, make a list of all the things (depending on your priorities) that needs to be done and stick to that list.
When you know what is it that you need to do to achieve your goals, unproductive and time wasting activities disappear on their own and you can stay focused for longer time.

How To Be Successful In Life: 5 Tips From The World’s Most Successful People

5 Vital Tips to Become Successful

By- Desai Pruthvi S

People tend to forget that no man is ever born successful; rathersuccess is the fruit of a man’s (or woman’s!) work.
So if you want success you are going to have to work for it, and you are going to have to bring some changes in your life.
These 5 tips will guide you in the right direction to mold yourself into the person you want to be.People tend to forget that no man is ever born successful; rathersuccess is the fruit of a man’s (or woman’s!) work.
So if you want success you are going to have to work for it, and you are going to have to bring some changes in your life.
These 5 tips will guide you in the right direction to mold yourself into the person you want to be.

1. Change your Perspective
I can’t make you successful and neither can your family and friends.Success starts with you and this is a fundamental thing that every man and women should understand.
If you are looking from inspiration from those around you, you have to stop relying on others. You must find the persistance within in order to become self-sufficient. You alone must be accountable for all your actions – your successes, your failures and everything in between.
2. Trust Yourself  ( Self-Confidence)

The root of success comes from self-confidence. So if you can’t trust yourself and you can’t believe in yourself then you can’t achieve anything. Self-confidence is your ability to know that you are capable to do something and that you will not “mess up”.
Take pains to create this trust in yourself as this is the foundation to everything in life.
3. Passion
To be successful you must have a strong drive and hunger to get what you need. If you don’t have this perception you don’t have what it takes to be successful.
Become eager and enthusiastic to reach your goals.
4. Always be Ready to Learn
If you want to be successful, you need to always be ready to adapt and change to your surroundings. Understand that you don’t know everything and that you have weaknesses.
This is the only way that you will grow.
5. Become Proactive
Stop waiting for success to come to you, because if you continue to wait it won’t. Create your own success by going out there and taking it.
This is the only way you will have an edge over others and this is the only way you will have success.
“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.”  – Abraham Lincoln
